About the Olmeca Team

Behind every bottle of Olmeca Tequila is a passionate collective of growers, distillers, and creators who bring Mexico’s liquid sunshine to life. From the fields of Jalisco to cocktail bars across the globe, our team has stayed true to a shared mission since 1967: crafting tequilas that are loud, proud, fun, and unmistakably smooth.

Our story is a true team effort. It starts under the sun with our dedicated jimadores, who patiently wait 6 to 8 years for our mighty Blue Agave plants to reach peak ripeness. From there, our distillery team takes over at our home in the Los Altos mountains—a region famous for producing smoother, beautifully balanced spirits. Here, we slow-cook the agave, extract the sweet juices, and introduce our secret weapon: a proprietary, in-house yeast that gives Olmeca its signature citrus and fruity character.

We do things a little differently, and we do them together. Whether we are column-distilling our crisp Olmeca Silver, resting our Reposado in vintage bourbon barrels, or blending silky cacao for our adventurous Olmeca Dark Chocolate, every bottle represents generations of shared Mexican craft.

Led by the recipe-perfecting mastery of our long-time tequila MVP, Jesús Hernández, our collective dedication has made Olmeca the number 2 premium tequila in the world. Today, from Istanbul to Johannesburg, our team is proud to build spirits dressed to impress, built to pour, and ready to bring the party.
