Do you hear it? Bang, bang, bang! It’s the sound that means the party’s just getting started with our world-famous Olmeca Bang Bang Bang Shots.

Now we’re going one step further, and adding a twist to make the tequila slammer shot an even more colourful character. The colour of roses, seashells, and salmon. This drink is enjoyed by men and women the world round, and it never fails to bring a blush (and a flush) to your cheeks.

Now as we all know, there’s a story behind everything if one cares to look. That’s true about pink drinks too. So, roll up, roll up! You’re about to run off with the circus. Think Cirque du Soleil, Ringling Brothers, and Barnum & Bailey, the greatest shows on earth!

It started in the 19th century. A booming ice trade was making cool drinks popular.

And then the circus, and its life fantastic, came to town!

People were travelling miles to watch acrobats perform death-defying leaps of faith, and see other oddities like human mermaids, contortionists, and people who breathed fire. With those astounding characters as a background, it only made sense that they’d want their drinks to be fantastical as well.

Enter a Chicago man by the name of Henry E. Allott. He’d run away to the circus as a boy. After accidentally dropping red-coloured cinnamon candies in a vat of traditional lemonade, he wondered what to do. But, as the old circus adage went, ‘The show must go on!’ So, Allott simply sold the pink-hued beverage as is.

Ingredients for Our Tequila and Pink Drinks Shot

What you need couldn’t be simpler. Just like this pink shooter packs a one-two punch, there are only two ingredients to the classic recipe.

  • 1 part Olmeca Blanco
  • 1 part of your favourite pink soda

Your choice of soda depends on your taste buds. For a dry taste, use tonic water or dry lemon soda. For a sweet taste, grab ginger ale. For a citrus taste, try 7 Up, lime, or grapefruit soda. And for a sweet caramel taste, go for Coke or another cola drink.

How to Make Our Pink Shot

Fear not! Making your pink tequila slammer is equally as simple.

  1. Pour tequila into the shot glass.
  2. Add the pink soda.
  3. Cover with a coaster.
  4. Bang the table with your drink 3 times.
  5. The drink will fizz and foam vigorously.

Bang, bang, bang, down the hatch it goes!

Tips for Drinking Our Pink Shot Properly

We already know that there’s a special way of drinking these delightful and fizzy pink shots. Here you have a couple tips, so you can do it like a pro.

  • You should ideally use a wooden bar counter for your tequila slammer as it’s safer (and kinder on the glass) than a stone or granite one.
  • Go large. Fill a bowl with ice, grapefruit juice, and tequila. Pour tonic water over the ice. Stir and garnish with strawberry and raspberry. Add a ladle, and your guests can top up their pink shooters whenever they feel the urge.

Variations of This Tequila Pink Shooter

You can make your pink shots in a rainbow of ways. So, experiment and find the taste that suits you.

  • Instead of the traditional pink lemonade, there are a host of other pink fruit flavoured sodas you can use, including grapefruit, watermelon, strawberry, raspberry, beetroot, pomegranate, and pink dragon fruit, to name but a few.
  • Another Mexican variant of the pink shooter uses tequila, 7-Up (or Sprite) and grenadine syrup.
  • Serve equal parts tequila, white wine (or champagne) and lemonade, creating a potent, flavoursome mix.
  • You can also cheat and add a drop of pink food colouring to a clear soda.

When is the Best Time to Drink These Pink Shots?

When isn’t it? OK, it may be out of place at your Monday morning meeting but there’s a myriad of other occasions that the pink tequila shooter can turbo-boost your night! The only limit is your imagination.

Here are some thought-starters to enjoy your Pink Tequila Bang Bang Bang.

  • Throw a theme party. Dress as a mad scientist and serve the shots in test tubes.
  • Prepare them next Halloween. Dress as Count Dracula downing vials of (blood-like) pink alcoholic beverages.
  • Serve them to the adults at a gender reveal party. A little naughty this one, but if it’s a girl, the theme colour is often pink.

Best Tequila for Our Pink Shots Recipe

The best tequila for a Pink Tequila Bang Bang Bang is, unsurprisingly, Olmeca. Use our Olmeca Tequila Silver, which is made in the Los Altos highlands of Jalisco, in Mexico.

So, don’t think! Go pink the next time you drink!
